Mignon Morse is a children's author and retired librarian who lives in the Dallas, Texas area. Her debut picture book, Sadie and Moose on the Loose, was released in March 2025 and is based on the real-life friendship between her dog Sadie and Sadie's best friend, Moose.

A lifetime of libraries

Before she wrote books, Mignon spent her career in public libraries across North Texas, including Sachse, Wylie, Garland, and McKinney. After years of public library management, she decided it was time to write a book of her own.

Meet the real Sadie and Moose

Sadie is Mignon's Aussie Shepherd rescue, and Moose is a golden retriever mix from next door. The two are inseparable, and one day, when the backyard gate blew open, they took off on an adventure together. That true story became Sadie and Moose on the Loose, a rhyming picture book for ages 4 and up, beautifully illustrated in chalk pastel and watercolor by Canadian artist Chris MacLeod.
